About Us

Best-in-class Mandarin instructors with decades of experience teaching American language learners.

Our Story

MasterinMandarin was founded in 2020 as a platform for Chinese language instruction and cultural exploration. Our mission today remains the same: to improve cross-cultural understanding and exploration through language learning.

Our Team

The MasterinMandarin team draws on extensive experience with American language learners to provide culturally relevant and insightful Chinese language instruction. The teaching team combines decades of experience teaching Chinese as a foreign language at world-renowned programs in Beijing and the USA -- Tsinghua IUP, School Year Abroad - China, Yale University, Indiana University, Middlebury College, and Phillips Andover Academy to name a few.

The team’s depth of teaching experience is augmented by recently developed remote teaching skills, methodologies, and best practices. The MasterinMandarin team brings an unmatched level of excitement, flexibility, and inclusivity to the Chinese language learning process. Our teachers possess the patience to draw out more reluctant beginners, the attitude to help intermediate learners continue their language growth, and the expectations and wealth of knowledge to help advanced learners on the road to mastery. We look forward to learning together.

MasterinMandarin’s founding team first met when Sam was a study abroad student in Beijing in 2007.
